Associate of Applied Social Sciences in Human Resource Management and Development

Programme Code:

  • Certificate in General Studies Programme
  • Year 1

Hong Kong is in the process of reinventing itself as a knowledge-based economy. Its greatest asset is its people, and the "people managers", i.e. the human resource management (HRM) specialists and the trainers, have a crucial role to play in Hong Kong. HRM professionals are needed not only for the many multi-national companies but also the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Furthermore, Hong Kong’s close integration with the Pearl River Delta increases economic convergence of the two territories, and leads to a rising demand for HRM specialists.

Programme Aims and Features

This programme aims to acquaint students with practical skills in human resource management such as organisational behaviour, planning and recruitment, employee development and performance appraisal. The programme also provides students with a broad-based foundation in Social Sciences to prepare them for higher level studies in related disciplines. On completion of the programme, students will have acquired the practical knowledge in managing and developing human resources for career and professional training, as well as for further studies.
