Crime is like a puzzle and I love solving puzzle since I was small. Studying the Associate Degree programme of Applied Social Sciences in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement gives me a chance to get to know various kinds of puzzles. It widens my horizon not only by learning different theories but also through training camps and workshops about forensic sciences and criminal justice systems. These special courses are unique that they are rarely offered by institutions in HK. This programme also leads me to a wider academic world as criminology is related to a variety of disciplines like psychology, sociology and law. The diversity courses I have studied in the College have well prepared me for my major study – Sociology at university. Apart from further study, this programme is particularly useful for people interested in law enforcement. Many lecturers are working in related field so they can share their experience with us and enables us to have a better understanding and build up social network in the field.

Time flies when you enjoy yourself
Time actually flies. It leaves us with nothing but professional knowledge, unforgettable memories and friendship over the years. I promise the indelible memories, which we wove in our college, can never be taken away.

Initially, the reason for me to enroll the AD in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement programme was due to the great interest of joining the enforcement agencies, especially the Customs and Excise Department. After studying the 2-year AD programme in the College, I realised that my interest was beyond something related to criminal justice or law enforcement. With the great variety of courses and the broad-based knowledge in Social Sciences, I was able to broaden my horizons. I started to question and reflect those questions like why the society and systems change and run as what we see now; moreover, why people think in particular ways and behave in such manners. This programme has guided us to think critically and more important, helped us to realise our real interests.

“Studying for an Associate Degree, as perceived by some people, is the last choice. For me, I think choosing a suitable programme based on my ability and needs is better than following the tradition of studying Form 6. I am happy to have chosen the Associate Degree programme in “Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement” after my Form 5 graduation. I really learnt a lot and enjoyed the learning process in this programme in the past 3 years.”

Honestly, studying at the College was a great time to me. The well-designed programme not only enhanced my language skills, but also gave me a huge amount of opportunities to experience in disciplinary field. Moreover, the experiences gained in the College helped me pursue my dream to be a university student. In last September, I was admitted to the Year 2 Bachelor of Sociology of Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Last but not least, studying Associate Degree programme does not mean that you are a loser!
