9. Financial Assistance and Scholarships

9.1 Scholarships and Bursary

Bursaries can be provided to students who experience hardship in continuing their study as a result of unforeseen and sudden changes in family circumstances or financial difficulty. Students can contact Student Counsellors on their eligibility to apply for the bursary.

Various scholarships, including Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme offered by Education Bureau, and Scholarships and Awards donated by Po Leung Kuk Directors et al., are available in recognition of students’ academic achievement, leadership, active participation in community service, or achievements and talent in non-academic areas. Invitation for application for these scholarships is normally made in October to December each year via the Learner Portal.

 

9.2 Government’s Financial Assistance and Subsidy Schemes

Government's Financial Assistance Schemes

For eligible students of Diploma in Foundation Studies (DFS) programme:

Scheme: Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) 擴展的免入息審查貸款計劃
Application Method:
Online application through “eWFSFAA” (http://portal.wfsfaa.gov.hk)
Application Deadline: Before the completion of DFS programme (i.e. the lectures of course(s) under the DFS programme have not been completed at the time of application submission.)

For eligible students of Associate Degree (AD) and Higher Diploma (HD) programmes:

Schemes: 1. Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) 專上學生資助計劃

2. Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS) 專上學生免入息審查貸款計劃
Application Method: Online application through “eWFSFAA” (http://portal.wfsfaa.gov.hk)
Application Deadline: Refer to the student notice posted on the College’s online platform “Learner Portal” after the start of semester.

Scheme: 3. Continuing Education Fund (CEF) 持續進修基金
Application Method: Refer to the student notice posted on the College’s online platform “Learner Portal” regarding application for reimbursement of fees for CEF reimbursable courses, normally one month after the release of semester assessment results
Application Deadline: Within one year upon the successful completion of the CEF reimbursable course.

Government's Subsidy Scheme

For local students of the following 10 Higher Diploma (HD) programmes: 

  • HD in Food Health and Business Management
  • HD in Food Science and Safety
  • HD in Health and Social Care
  • HD in Hotel Management
  • HD in Medical and Health Products Management
  • HD in Nutrition and Food Management
  • HD in Sport and Recreation Management
  • HD in Sport Coaching and Sport Performance
  • HD in Tourism and Events Management
  • HD in Tourism and Hospitality Management
Schemes:
Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/ Sectors (SSSDP) 指定專業/界別課程資助計劃
Submission of Declaration Form: Local students of the above 10 HD programmes are required to complete a declaration form during the Registration for New Students - Stage 1 (in mid-August) for claiming SSSDP subsidy from the Education Bureau

9.3 MTR Student Travel Scheme 2025-26 (Online Application)

To enjoy concessionary fares on the MTR during the 2025/26 academic year, all eligible students are required to submit a new or renewal application via the Online Application Platform. Please note that applications must be submitted annually.

Eligibility

  • Current full-time students who aged between 12 and 25

 

Application Period

  • Opening of Online Application

The online platform will be available starting 10:00 AM on 14 August 2025.

  • Renewal Applications

For the students who already hold a previously approved Personalised Octopus with “Student Status”, please note that the concession will remain valid until at least 31 October 2025. Therefore, there is no need to rush. Students may submit a renewal application within 60 days prior to the expiry of their “Student Status”.

Application Methods

  • Online

Via the MTR Mobile App or MTR website: http://www.mtr.com.hk/ch/customer/tickets/student_travel_scheme.html

  • Paper Application

Students may collect a paper application form at any MTR station. Completed forms, along with a valid Student ID Card, must be submitted to the College Office for verification. After verification, students should return the form to an MTR station between 1 September 2025 and 31 October 2025. Upon successful application, students must activate their “Student Status” via the Octopus App or at an MTR station.
