Definition of Local and Non-local Applicants
Local Students / Applicants
According to the guidelines of Education Bureau (EDB) for the purpose of admission to post-secondary programmes, holders of the following documents are defined as local students / applicants:
- HKID Card (Permanent)
- Documents issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR showing right to land / right of abode in Hong Kong
- One-way Permit for entry to Hong Kong
- Full-time Employment Visa / Work Permit
- Dependant visa / entry permit (the holder was below 18 years old when such Visa / Entry permit was first issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR)
- Visa / Entry Permit for Quality Migrant Admission Scheme
- Visa / Entry Permit for Capital Investment Entrant Scheme
- Visa / Entry Permit for Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents
- Visa label for unconditional stay
Applicants who do not hold any of the documents above are defined as non-local applicants.
Non-local Students / Applicants1
According to the guidelines of Education Bureau (EDB) for the purpose of admission to post-secondary programmes, holders of the following documents issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR are defined as non-local students / applicants:
- Student Visa / Entry Permit
- Visa / Entry Permit under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG)
- Dependent Visa / Entry Permit (the holder was 18 years old or above when such Visa / Entry permit was first issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR)
It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to present valid identification documents to prove their identity. The College reserves the right to revoke an application, an offer of admission and student registration status, should the student fail to present valid identification documents upon request of the College, and any fees paid will be forfeited.
