In 2010, I got a failed mark in my public examination. After that, I chose to continue my study path at the College. I can definitely say that my choice was absolutely correct and I am glad to be one of the students on the College. The programme includes different aspects of knowledge other than Accounting and Finance such as interpersonal skills, computer skills, business ethics, etc. It equipped me to be an all-rounded student and made me well-prepared to be a degree student. My past few years at the College have provided me with an in-depth knowledge on my specialised area. On top of that, what surprised me the most is the learning style in the College. The learning atmosphere is similar to university over here. Students are encouraged to raise questions and look for answers by themselves through books and discussions with classmates. Lecturers are also more than willing to answer all kinds of questions about the related areas. Sometimes, they will also share some of their experiences so that the lectures can be more enjoyable.

At the College, I have not only acquired knowledge and practical skills on accounting and financial planning, but also developed various kinds of abilities. Through individual and group projects, I have learned to think critically, communicate effectively, as well as coordinating well with other people. Out of class, there are lots of activities for students to participate in, such as study tour, internship, camping and voluntary service. These are good opportunities for us to broaden our exposure and get a chance to relax, while shaping us to be all-rounded students.

“Like everyone else I wanted to go to the university, but it was a huge disappointment two years ago when I learned that my A-level results did not live up to the expectation. However, it is never too late to give yourself a second chance, and I am offering you a path now to the universities, and for those who can demonstrate the determination and are willing to work hard on their aspirations -- studying at the College.
Lecturers not only provide us with knowledge from the textbook but also they are all professional who like to share their personal experiences with us. They make studying more interesting here and certainly it allows me to get the hang of those conceptual theories. “HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College is a light in the dark which guides me the way to find and achieve my career target. I still remembered the result announcement day of my A-level examination, it was not good at all and I really wanted to give up my study. I then came across with the lecturers of the College, who explained the programme syllabus in great details and offered me the opportunity to study the Higher Diploma in Business (Accounting and Financial Planning) programme here.
As the lecturers in the College are all professionals such as chartered accountants or financial planners and so on, it is a natural progression they like to share their own experience at work with students instead of lecturing by means of the text books alone. Students were always encouraged to raise questions, and the learning atmosphere was excellent as well. Apart from that, I also enjoyed studying at the College as the campus provided a really comfortable environment for me to study and hang out with my classmates.”
