With population ageing becoming more pressing, elderly care and their living conditions receive much concern. Our healthcare system and services for the elderly face enormous pressure. HPSHCC has introduced the Higher Diploma in Applied Health and Rehabilitation Care programme to train students to become healthcare professionals, to alleviate the manpower shortage in elderly and rehabilitation care services. The programme tackles the ageing challenges by adopting gerontechnology in the following four domains – healthcare, food, living and mobility of elderly persons. Recently, HPSHCC and Jockey Club “age at home” jointly organised the “Gerontechnology Application Tour and Sharing Seminar” to introduce the latest community applications of gerontechnology to the students.
