The Medical & Health Products Management Program organised a learning experience for the students through visiting an old age home in Tsuen Wan called Chevron Professional Nursing Home. This was held in the afternoon on 7 January 2017 (Saturday) and there were 24 students participating in the activity.
The Director Ms. Sarah Ng introduced to us the characteristics of this home and the basic required facilities of a nursing. She then led the students to tour around the premises to show them the elderly’s living condition and the environment. Obviously, it was a well-organised and well-operated high quality nursing home and it was an eye-opening experience for the students for having a chance to see the physical therapy room and the advanced drug managing system there. After that, the students entertained the elderly residents with musical and rope-skipping performances and an interesting quiz with prizes. Students planning to study gerontology, community or public health degree programs would undoubtedly find this experience very rewarding.
