On 14 Jan 2017, students of the Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management visited the Elderly Resources Centre, Hong Kong Housing Society in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon. The staff introduced 1) the ageing process and the changes to the elders' mind and body; 2) different health screening tests; and 3) furniture and aids suitable for the elderly people, to the students.
After the visit, students have a better understanding of the concept of “age-friendly home”. They also learnt the process to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for the elderly people. Last but not least, the experience gained at the visit helped the students to prepare well for their bachelor's degree studies in nursing, gerontology, health care, and biomedical engineering in the future.
