Learning to Take Care of the Elderly
On 7 April, 2018, around 20 students of the Higher Diploma programme in Medical and Health Products Management visited the Housing Society Elderly Resources Centre in Yaumatei. It was an opening experience for them. Staff of the Centre explained to the students in details of all the home facilities, from the kitchen to the bedroom, which were designed to assist the elderly to live safely and conveniently. There were also a number of advanced sensory and mobility test equipment that could assess the health status of the elderly. The visit was undoubtedly very useful to students who wanted to pursue further studies in nursing, occupational therapy, gerontology and community health practice.
