To me, the college life at HPSHCC is a memorable experience for I have gained a lot during the studies. Lecturers try their best to inculcate students with love and knowledge; they are willing to help us anytime. Also, the student counsellors of SDRC are professional and they have provided us with guidance in career and studies. Some students may think that studying a sub-degree programme is a waste of time and effort, and they are less competitive than the others who are studying in the university. I don't see it this way. Everyone has his or her potential. We should not underestimate ourselves. Find the right path, make the right decision and do your best to reach the goal.

I was really grateful to study at HPSHCC for the past two years. The resources, teachers and classmates of the college were great. I felt more motivated to work hard with less pressure during the studies. Some of the lecturers were experienced social workers. They shared with us many real cases that they have dealt with in the past. They usually concerned about what type of social workers students are suitable for, and discussed the prospects so that I could have a clear plan about my career path.

The programme curriculum and learning mode at HPSHCC are similar to those of the university programmes which have helped me build a solid knowledge foundation for the tertiary education. My communication and cognitive skills have been improved and enhanced. Most importantly, the programme lecturers are professional and aspiring. They encouraged me to strive for the best and fulfil my dream.

In the past two years, I have gained a lot being in this College. I have made new friends with the same goals. We studied in the library before quizzes and exams, experienced success and failure together, as well as supported and encouraged each other. The enthusiastic and professional lecturers have not only taught us knowledge and skills, but also helped us cultivate our goals and future prospects. Moreover, the teaching mode of the College is similar to that of a university, it helps me to adapt to university life.

“I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to all the lecturers at HPSHCC who have devoted themselves wholeheartedly in teaching. The carefully structured YSS programme helps students to fully utilize the two years of study. The programme also provides a comprehensive training for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation. For instance, the practicum supervised by experienced social workers has offered opportunities for students to learn in real world situations.
I am so fortunate to have the chance to join the study tour to South Korea. The trip offered us valuable opportunity to visit different social facilities including an orphanage and a school for the mentally handicapped. I also wanted to give my heartfelt appreciation to the Programme Manager who had given me amble support to prepare for a postgraduate programme interview. I am accepted by the Master’s programme of Social Work (MSW) and will study at HKU after receiving my Bachelor’s degree this year. Studying at HPSHCC is really a fruitful and enjoyable experience to me.”

Thanks to the College, for giving me an opportunity to continue my study. In these years, what I have gained is greater than I expected. In my view, being passionate about learning is much important than pursuing the academic results. Exploring the treasure house of knowledge with your efforts; interacting with others with sincerity even under the fierce competition, and enjoying the teachings of the lecturers, you will find out the true value of study, which is not a matter of grading, but enjoyment. Thanks to all lecturers who taught wholeheartedly as well as the classmates who made my day.

"As I began my study in social sciences, I found the subject very useful and interesting. The theories and concepts I have learnt are closely related to the society and highly applicable to daily life. Besides, the courses have also trained up my critical thinking and analytical skills. As a result, I have become much more capable in analysing social issues from different perspectives and dealing with problems using different approaches.
In the final year of my associate degree study, I was offered a placement opportunity in a non-governmental organisation. During the placement, I got to understand the actual work of social workers, while having the chance to apply and reinforce what I have learned at college in an actual working environment. Such work experience also serves as a trial, prompting me to reflect whether I am suitable and determined to pursue a career in social work."
