STUDENT SHARING

Despite my unsatisfactory DSE result, I am glad that I have chosen to study at HPSHCC. I was impressed by the facilities and learning atmosphere here. Lecturers were passionate in nurturing students and answering questions from students. They offered help in our studies. I remember reading the student sharing page last year and I am happy to have the opportunity to share my thought here.Failure is not fatal. What matter most is to pick ourselves up from where we have fallen and to have faith in our own abilities. Do our best and leave no regrets!

The Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management programme equipped me with essential knowledge of basic medical and pharmaceutical sciences such as microbiology and pharmaceutics. You may not be aware that oil can really mix with water into a continuous phase. I recalled that we had a laboratory practical for hand cream preparation through mixing aqueous and oily components well together using pharmaceutical techniques. Health products are becoming increasingly popular in the market and dispensing skills are vital and useful in our daily lives as well. I started to see the success in my future career by incorporating these two main elements in our community.

Before I studied at this College, I was not a highly motivated person. I have changed a lot in these two years, because the lecturers showed their care for me and helped me with my problems. Moreover, the programme has provided many opportunities to prepare me for Hong Kong’s medical and healthcare industry, such as internships and visits to laboratories and pharmaceutical factories. In addition, the learning content is similar to that of a university course, which has helped me lay a good foundation and make the transition easier.

Automated pharmacy definitely can reduce medical incidents. In the past years, I worked as a dispenser in different contexts, such as community pharmacy, nursing home and private clinic. Although the job duties of a dispenser in different areas vary, all of them require good skills, so as to avoid any human errors due to the heavy workloads. The application of advance technology in dispensing can reduce the workload of a dispenser as well as to minimise human errors. I am now working as a system analyst in a renowned medical company, which develops the automatic dispensing system. Since I have learnt different knowledge in the areas of medical and pharmaceutical sciences when studying the Higher Diploma and the university degree programmes, I am able to serve customers by providing them with accurate information on various medical products.

A two-year school life in the College was inspiring and meaningful. Interacting with lecturers and group mates, lectures became fun and interesting. Besides, admission talks and student counselling held by SDRC provided a lot of information about future studies and careers. These enabled me to have a clear direction about my future.
