The mode of learning at HPSHCC is very similar to the University and hence I can easily adapt to the life of the University. The specialism courses in the programme include various professional skills and knowledge which makes me well-prepared to become a professional. The patience of the lecturers enabled me to learn as much as I could and I am thankful to all of them. In the past two years, I made a lot of new friends and we worked for the projects together. Although it was a hard time, we finally overcame the difficulties and these experiences became our valuable memory. Other than making friends, the activities held in the College gave us a chance to develop diverse abilities which are beneficial to my future studies or careers. Lastly, the College is a good place to know more about myself by figuring out my interests and goals.

After the 3-year learning at the College, I found my goal to be a registered nurse. Although the pathway to reach the goal is long and hard, finally, I can achieve it via advancing to the Master of Nursing Science programme offered by CUHK. Thanks to the College for providing me with an opportunity to further continue studying after my failure in the public exam. Moreover, I started to realise my weaknesses. Lastly, the basic knowledge of medical science, including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, did help me a lot when I am studying the Master programme.

HPSHCC has provided me an opportunity to be back to school again. Before studying at HPSHCC, I worked as a clinic nurse for a few years. I used to be dependent and lacked self-confidence. The programme allowed me to develop critical thinking. Through class projects and presentations, I became more confident. Besides, I have learnt a lot from my Programme Leader and lecturers. I believe my experience at HPSHCC and the knowledge I gained were of great benefit to my career development and further studies.

The learning atmosphere here is free and supportive, emphasising on students’ independence and initiative. The programme syllabus covers a broad range of professional topics, including biological, pharmaceutical and medical management, helping me to identify my strength and arouse my interest in studying. Through the summer internship referred by the College, I have become more responsible and down-to-earth, and started to establish my academic and career directions. Besides, the College also provided me with various kinds of learning opportunities, such as class representative programme, outdoor visits, internships and scholarships. These experiences have broadened my horizons. With such strong academic training and non-academic exposure, I am admitted to the university. I would say the College is a very good platform for students to understand themselves, and become a mature person.
