40 HPSHCC students from Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management programme, Higher Diploma in Nutrition and Food Management programme and Higher Diploma in Food Health and Business Management programme spent their summer break on an exciting study tour at Tajen University in Taiwan. The visit aimed to promote cultural and academic exchanges between the two institutions, as well as provide students with a deeper understanding of Taiwanese food culture and medical expertise.
During the visit, students participated in various courses and activities related to food, medicine, and health, including hands-on experiences such as making Taiwanese local food, practicing traditional Chinese medicine, experiencing Decoupage visual art therapy and analysing natural products. The activities allowed students to gain a better understanding of Taiwanese cuisine, Chinese medicine, medical development, and health products.
In addition to the academic components, the visit included field trips to various institutions in Taiwan, including Pingtung Veterans General Hospital, Joben Bio-Medical Co., YOHO Beach Resort, Kaohsiung Municipal Chinese Medical Hospital, and Red Barn Factory & Tours. These visits provided students with insight into the current state and development of Taiwan's medical, health, and food industries.
At the farewell dinner, HPSHCC students reflected on their experience, stating that the visit had broadened their knowledge and horizons, while also providing an unforgettable academic and cultural exchange experience. The study tour was deemed a success, contributing significantly to the development of academic exchanges and friendships between the two institutions.
