The students of the Higher Diploma in Nutrition and Food Management and Higher Diploma in Food Health and Business Management were on a 12-day study tour to the United Kingdom from 17 to 28 June 2017.
The first stop of the tour was Sheffield Hallam University. In addition to the ordinary exchange activities, our students have completed a challenging food product development project, performed a proper sensory evaluation as well as conducted a remarkable wine tasting session. Students were able to complete all tasks with teamwork spirit and great enthusiasm! The academic staff at the University rated highly of their performance and congratulated their success. On our last day at Sheffield, we also visited York’s Chocolate Factory and had a chance to make our own chocolates.
Exciting activities and new experiences were followed by one and another. In London, we have been to the classes offered by Jamie Oliver London Cookery School, GrowUp Urban Farms as well as the Le Cordon Bleu London! We learnt so much from each of these places: creative cooking, proper culinary skills, innovative food holdings, inventive farming and many more. These experiences were so unique and memorable, and will surely contribute to the students' personal growth and future career development.
This study tour not only provided the students with a great opportunity to explore and appreciate the food culture in the UK, it also serves as a valuable outside-classroom learning experiences.
