In February and March 2018, the Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management Programme organised visits to two public hospitals, namely, Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on Hong Kong Island. During the visits, the students received a short briefing by the hospital pharmacist about the role of the pharmacy department within the hospital and the scope of pharmaceutical services. Students had a chance to observe and understand the operation of the outpatient pharmacy as well as the inpatient pharmacy sections. They learned how advanced technology was applied to enhance safety and efficiency of drug dispensing. They were also demonstrated the stringent control of drug storage facilities and equipment. The visit was undoubtedly an eye-opening experience to the students.
