Students from the College Sports Programme travelled to Rongjiang, Guizhou, during the recent summer to experience first-hand the rapidly growing sports culture surrounding the “Village Super League” football competition and the “Village BA” basketball tournament. They also took part in an exciting pre-season warm-up match against the local Guizhou Tai Kwong basketball team, gaining valuable insights into the community’s passion for sport and the factors behind the successful popularisation of grassroots sports.
In addition to learning about the distinctive development of local sports culture, the students visited Guizhou Minzu University to exchange ideas with its students and play a friendly match against the university’s football team. The visit not only broadened students’ horizons, but also fostered sports and cultural exchange among young people from the two regions.
