College Life

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal.” Studying Social Work at CUHK has always been a dream that I have worked hard to pursue. Looking back on who I was two years ago, I once thought this goal was beyond my reach, which led me to take a different path in the hope of giving myself a second chance. When I first joined HPSHCC, I was determined to give it my very best. As the saying goes, “You reap what you sow,” and my academic results helped me regain confidence in my ability to learn and grow.

As I gradually adapted to the rhythm of College life, I actively took part in different College societies and internships to broaden my horizons and turn each experience into nourishment for personal growth. Although the journey was full of challenges, it was through perseverance and reflection that I was able to move closer to my goal step by step and eventually gain admission to my desired bachelor degree programme. This experience has made me firmly believe that with a clear direction and consistent effort, dreams can truly come true.

Lastly, I am deeply grateful to my friends, lecturers, and staff at HPSHCC, who walked alongside me throughout this journey and helped me find hope during moments of uncertainty. I also sincerely wish every student the courage to keep striving and to move confidently towards their own future.

As a mature student whose previous experience was entirely in the property management industry, this Higher Diploma programme has broadened my understanding of the surveying profession and given me a clearer picture of what it means to be a surveying professional. In this field, it is crucial to possess both technical expertise in real estate and a sound understanding of legal principles.

The lecturers are all seasoned professionals or practitioners with extensive experience in their respective fields. They have enriched our learning by sharing valuable practical knowledge and real-world industry insights. Whether you are a student who has just completed the HKDSE or a mature student seeking a new career direction, HPSHCC offers a supportive and professional environment in which to gain practical knowledge, develop new skills, and build a clear career pathway.

The comprehensive curriculum and hands-on learning experiences have prepared me for my future in healthcare. I was thrilled to receive offers from both my dream programmes — Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy —thanks to the solid foundation that I built during my studies.

The course has offered invaluable job exposure through placements, outreach activities in various health sectors, and access to advanced healthcare technologies. I have gained practical skills such as using walking aids, mastering bed transfer techniques, and providing patient care. These experiences have not only enhanced my technical competence but also deepened my passion for rehabilitation care. The supportive lecturers and practical training have paved the way for my academic and professional aspirations, and I am excited to continue pursuing my dream career in healthcare.

With profound gratitude to my lecturers, it's my pleasure to share what I have gained from studying this programme at HPSHCC.

Alongside fundamental healthcare knowledge, I have gained various learning opportunities beyond classroom, such as developing practical pharmaceutical skills through laboratory activities, and gaining a deeper understanding of how healthcare services operate through seminars and overseas visits. For instance, I learned about China's healthcare system during an exchange programme with Shenzhen University, which broadened my perspective and inspired me to pursue a bright future.

Once again, I would like to extend my indebtedness to my lecturers. Guiding us from career prospects to university applications and interview preparation, their persistent tutelage and boundless belief in us will yield another generation of outstanding medical professionals. Their support has been instrumental in shaping my career path and preparing me for the challenges ahead. To prospective students, I wish you every success in building your future and encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities this programme offers.

The greatest reward of studying at HPSHCC is knowing that “no risk, no story” and that it is never too late to chase your dreams. The College provides a good opportunity to learn more about the industry through the internship programme, which has clarified my future career path.
