I was once a university student who felt frustrated and uncertain about my chosen major, which led me to pause and reconsider my path. During that period of confusion, I discovered the Associate of Social Sciences in Youth and Social Services at HPSHCC. This programme broadened my perspective and helped me rethink my future career direction. Although I developed a strong interest in social work, I also realised the importance of building a solid foundation in social sciences first.
I am grateful to have met like-minded peers who share similar aspirations, which made this journey even more meaningful. The two years of associate degree study were not easy, yet every step contributed to my personal growth. With the dedicated guidance of lecturers and the strong support of the Student Development Resource Centre (SDRC), I was able to build a solid academic and personal foundation. These experiences have enabled me to progress to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and move one step closer to my future goals.

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal.” Studying Social Work at CUHK has always been a dream that I have worked hard to pursue. Looking back on who I was two years ago, I once thought this goal was beyond my reach, which led me to take a different path in the hope of giving myself a second chance. When I first joined HPSHCC, I was determined to give it my very best. As the saying goes, “You reap what you sow,” and my academic results helped me regain confidence in my ability to learn and grow.
As I gradually adapted to the rhythm of College life, I actively took part in different College societies and internships to broaden my horizons and turn each experience into nourishment for personal growth. Although the journey was full of challenges, it was through perseverance and reflection that I was able to move closer to my goal step by step and eventually gain admission to my desired bachelor degree programme. This experience has made me firmly believe that with a clear direction and consistent effort, dreams can truly come true.
Lastly, I am deeply grateful to my friends, lecturers, and staff at HPSHCC, who walked alongside me throughout this journey and helped me find hope during moments of uncertainty. I also sincerely wish every student the courage to keep striving and to move confidently towards their own future.

Only when you have the courage to fantasise can you have the courage to try. Opportunities can be self-generated, so we must seize them with diligence. Never presume failure before you've even commenced. Irrespective of success or failure, you can take solace in the fact that you have made the effort. If you capitulate without trailing, you will assuredly be deprived of any chance to realise your objective.
Stumbling propels us to evolve more rapidly and learn more abundantly, alike to every toddler have fallen countless times when they learn how to walk. It appears I underperformed in my public examination, yet I chose not to relinquish and afforded myself another prospect by studying at HPSHCC, and now I have been successfully admitted to university!
In my two years of studying at HPSHCC, I was fortunate to encounter many esteemed lecturers and friends from whom I could acquire knowledge and develop in pursuit of my aspirations! I am immensely grateful for their guidance and companionship that extracted me from the darkness and led me to the path to my dream.
To My fellow schoolmates, “Your Mentality Determines All!” So please persist in chasing your dreams! Provided you do not renounce, you will definitely succeed. Good luck!

Diligence requires continuous accumulation - every seemingly insignificant step you take will reveal the significance of persistence in one day.

Without impressive academic results or exceptional talents, I entered the College full of uncertainties and anxiety. I was thankful to the College for offering quality teaching resources, support and opportunities. Through my journey, I not only acquired knowledge and skills, but also discovered different aspects of myself, made friends who are inspiring and supportive, built confidence, solidified my goals, and broadened my horizons. To my fellow DSE graduates and Year 1 classmates, you are in a challenging phase of life, and the stress should not be underestimated. However, please don’t forget to take good care of your mind and body to go further in the long run. "When an egg breaks from outside, it is under pressure; when it breaks from inside, it is growth." Life is a journey full of possibilities, and I firmly believe that if you are willing to work hard and persevere, one day you will achieve your goals and fulfil your dreams. May you all attain more achievements and find joy in your future learning and life endeavours. Keep up the good work!

My one-year college life at HPSHCC passed so quickly. Although face-to-face teaching was interrupted by COVID-19, the lecturers adopted various methods and online channels to teach us which made learning more effective. The first year of AD courses broadended my horizon and prepared me well for my studies in the university.
