Being an accountant is my career goal for ages. However, I did not have a chance to study accounting before being admitted to the College. In the past, I was so afraid that there would be a hard time coping with the accounting knowledge as I had not acquired any relevant concepts before. However, the curricular and syllabi were so well-designed that I could handle the concepts easily. Besides, the professional lecturers were able to explain each concept in a detailed way, which could be easily understood by students. Moreover, the College offered a wide variety of competitions for me to participate in. These competitions were considered as very valuable opportunities to let me apply the knowledge practically. They undoubtedly increased my competence as well as improved my communication skills. Lastly, the friends I met here are always supportive and treat me nicely. Attending lectures at the College is regarded as enjoyable for me that I would never regret.

Throughout the two years at the College, not only did I acquire knowledge regarding Social Sciences and Psychology which helped consolidate my academic basis, I also understood and knew myself better. Like many others, I was anxious when I first came to the College. I chose Psychology back then only because I knew I like working with others, especially children, and I was interested in a career relating to counselling. However, with exposure to different areas of Psychology through different courses, joining talks and workshops organised by the College, learning lecturers’ experiences and having heard their advices, I discovered and realised my interest and how my career pathway should be. Besides academic aspects, the College also helped mold me into a better person with greater confidence.

I enjoyed my time studying at the College. HD in Nutrition and Food Management is a well-designed programme which focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects. Not only can we learn theories about nutritional science and food service systems, but also practically design and cook a balanced diet ourselves. It is an ideal place for us to flourish our interest in nutritional science. Also, lecturers at the College are friendly and passionate in teaching. They have taught us many useful things aside from theories such as studying skills in tertiary education.

Studying the HD in Nutrition and Food Management programme has equipped me with both a strong foundation of theories such as biochemistry and food chemistry, as well as practical knowledge, for example: food service operation and the skills of report writing. Site visits to Cathy Pacific Catering Services in Tung Chung was a good opportunity to experience the working environment in food industry. At the College, l had met a lot of friends and we shared a lot of unforgettable memories, from practical cooking to food marketing presentations. There are good facilities to help students build up excellent study atmosphere. The College also provides good support such as counselling and talks from professionals in industry, and as a result, I have found my direction during these past two years of college life. Self-initiative and effective learning are the two most important things I have learnt and it will definitely help my study at university.

In 2010, I got a failed mark in my public examination. After that, I chose to continue my study path at the College. I can definitely say that my choice was absolutely correct and I am glad to be one of the students on the College. The programme includes different aspects of knowledge other than Accounting and Finance such as interpersonal skills, computer skills, business ethics, etc. It equipped me to be an all-rounded student and made me well-prepared to be a degree student. Most importantly, the Academic Excellence Scholarship enforced my self- confidence.

I studied an Associate Degree since I was deeply frustrated by the result of my AL exam; I studied Human Resource Management and Development at the College since I found that this programme allowed me to pursue further studies in social science and HR stream. Days in the College was not easy, I had to adapt the learning style which is different from secondary school. Furthermore, waiting for an interview did cost my patience, not to mention an offer, Fortunately, I got lots of support from the counsellors and friends who keep encouraging me to look for the good. Every dark side has a silver lining. I am really glad to be a university student.

HPSHCC provided me with a platform to explore my interests, build up confidence and set my goals. If you are willing to make efforts, you will definitely acquire what you want in this College. After my first lecture at the College, I had set my own objectives and study plans for entering the university. HPSHCC provided me with a clear route and direction. Lecturers offered me a lot of help as I did not only learn academic knowledge from them, but also the real-life experiences they shared with us. I particularly enjoy the study at the College, not just because of the well-equipped environment, but also having a wonderful time with the lecturers and schoolmates. The programme structure was great and suitable, for students were able to explore a broad-based knowledge of social sciences and allowed students to specialise in public relations and journalism. Lecturers engaged students to think critically and creatively. Through discussion, sharing and reflection with friends, it has given me more insight on academic study.

The well-designed programmme, Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management, provided me with a fruitful and rewarding study life I have never had. Besides theoretical aspect, the programme is practical as the role play, summer internship, visiting to hospital and pharmaceutical factory are offered. The strongest impression regarding the College is the knowledgeable, enthusiastic and supportive lecturers.
