My past two-year study at the College was very fruitful and enjoyable. We did not only learn a lot the industry-related knowledge, but also got abundant lecturers’ guidance on understanding the actual situation in the industry. In addition, I gained a valuable 6-month internship experience as a Human Resources trainee in the Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel. I believe these experiences can benefit me for my future studies and careers. Although the past two years were full of challenges, I was lucky to have my groupmates’ support, which became one of my driving forces to keep me up every time.

Regarding the 2-year study at the College, I have gained more than I expected. The College is not only a place to acquire knowledge or a stepping-stone to the university, but also a place turning me to be more mature to meet the requirement of the future world. Apart from providing an alternative pathway to enter the university, the College has also provided me with a variety of platforms to extend learning beyond academic studies. I was chosen as a Student Ambassador and the representative of the College joining a joint college study tour. From these precious experiences, I have widened my scope and expanded my social connection. Furthermore, I have rebuilt self-confidence in these two years. The support from lecturers and the resources provided by the College enable me to pursue excellence in my studies. The courses also allow me to study in different psychology disciplines, such as developmental psychology and abnormal psychology, which provide me with a very strong foundation to continue my studies in the degree programme and inspire my career choice.

My past few years at the College have provided me with an in-depth knowledge on my specialised area. On top of that, what surprised me the most is the learning style in the College. The learning atmosphere is similar to university over here. Students are encouraged to raise questions and look for answers by themselves through books and discussions with classmates. Lecturers are also more than willing to answer all kinds of questions about the related areas. Sometimes, they will also share some of their experiences so that the lectures can be more enjoyable.

At the College, we gained not only knowledge, but also a group of good lecturers, classmates and friends. The College provides a lot of opportunities to us including visiting newspaper corporations, TV stations and chatting with the chief editors. We can understand deeply about the media industry through these experiences. During the summer, students can also participate in study tours which are organised by the College to broaden their horizons.

To me, studying at the College was a memorable learning experience. Looking back to these three years at the College, I am thankful for what I have gained and learnt here. I remember when I first came to this College, I was anxious of adapting to this new environment. The learning style here is totally different from that of secondary schools. It emphasises self-learning, self-discipline, independent and critical thinking which is challenging but indeed helps me to prepare for my future study at university. Besides, students here are equipped with various learning opportunities apart from classroom learning. During my study, I was fortunate to have a chance to join the Beijing and Tianjin study tour. I explored more about these two cities and also myself. I had chances to try out things that I have not encountered before and met people with different cultural background.

I felt that I am now equipped with basic professional knowledge in different fields. Besides studying Psychology, we also had opportunities to explore different areas of knowledge, such as history, popular culture and management. During these 3 years, apart from nourishing myself with knowledge, I had an enjoyable time with classmates since this school provides me a chance to open up myself more in friendship and learn how to get others to have a deeper understanding of me.

Crime is like a puzzle and I love solving puzzle since I was small. Studying the Associate Degree programme of Applied Social Sciences in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement gives me a chance to get to know various kinds of puzzles. It widens my horizon not only by learning different theories but also through training camps and workshops about forensic sciences and criminal justice systems. These special courses are unique that they are rarely offered by institutions in HK. This programme also leads me to a wider academic world as criminology is related to a variety of disciplines like psychology, sociology and law. The diversity courses I have studied in the College have well prepared me for my major study – Sociology at university. Apart from further study, this programme is particularly useful for people interested in law enforcement. Many lecturers are working in related field so they can share their experience with us and enables us to have a better understanding and build up social network in the field.
