2026/27 New Higher Diploma and Associate Degree Programmes

HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College (HPSHCC) will launch a series of new Higher Diploma and Associate Degree programmes in the 2026/27 academic year. These programmes respond to the growing manpower needs in areas such as social welfare, food and nutrition, community healthcare, as well as information technology, and provide clear articulation pathways to bachelor's degree studies.

Higher Diploma in Food Science and Safety The programme aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills in food science and safety to deal with the global challenge of increasing the provision of high-quality, safe, and healthy food. The programme also aims to develop basic laboratory skills of students so that they can apply the knowledge of food science to different aspects of the food industry, such as food processing, food safety, testing, quality assurance, preservation, and product development. It also prepares them to progress to further studies towards a degree in the relevant fields and enables timely entry into the workforce to meet the growing demand for food science and testing services.

Higher Diploma in Community and Primary Healthcare The programme is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills for careers in primary healthcare and community health services. It addresses Hong Kong’s growing demand for professionals in District Health Centres (DHCs), NGOs, and other community-based healthcare settings, while providing a strong foundation for further studies in healthcare-related disciplines. Students will participate in a three-week experiential study at a range of community healthcare settings, such as community pharmacies, NGOs, and primary healthcare institutions. This experiential study allows students to apply their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in real-world environments. Graduates may pursue nursing, public health, gerontology, and other healthcare-related degrees locally or overseas.
