College Life

This all-rounded programme equipped students with professional skills and knowledge, such as marketing and human resources management, which allowed us to pursue further studies in different fields. I would like to express my sincerest thanks to all of the lecturers and classmates who gave assistance to me in the past two years.

These two years were fruitful and memorable. I have acquired the concepts and knowledge regarding the tourism and hospitality industry. The six-month job placement has further equipped me with practical skills. Lecturers are kind and patient. Whenever I had encountered any difficulties, they were willing to help me out. I was always motivated to learn. I am gratified to study at HPSHCC.

The focus of this programme is a 6-month placement. I had a chance to work in the catering department of the Peninsula Hotel. I experienced the daily operation of the hotel, learnt about the service standards of luxury hotels in Hong Kong, and I was impressed by the versatility and professionalism of frontline colleagues. Their serious working attitude has set me a good example.

This programme has provided me an insight into the tourism and hospitality industry. The lecturers were always willing to help me and give me useful advice in academic and different issues. I became more hard-working as the learning atmosphere was great in my class. I also appreciate that the College always held different workshops and talks to equip us. At first I was perplexed because my DSE score was not enough for me to enter the university. After two years of study, I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to study in HPSHCC, as I am now clear about my future and have prepared myself for my university life.

The 2-year programme allowed me to learn a variety of knowledge and receive training regarding the hospitality and tourism industry. In order to broaden our horizons, the College has arranged a 6-month job placement for students. I was given an opportunity to work at InterContinental Hong Kong, and my position was Guest Services Officer in the Front Office Department. I was able to communicate with tourists from different countries and to experience the daily operation at a Forbes 5-Star Hotel.

In these two years, I have learned a lot of knowledge from lectures. This programme not only focuses on academics, we also had a valuable opportunity to work in a luxury hotel for six months to broaden our horizons and gain more experience. The lecturers in HPSHCC are kind and helpful. I am glad to study here.

As I did not perform satisfactorily in HKDSE, I was puzzled and frustrated as going to the university was the ultimate goal that I have been striving hard for throughout my secondary school life. After talking to my friends and teachers in my school, I applied for the Higher Diploma programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management offered by HPSHCC. The two years of studies in HPSHCC enriched my academic knowledge as well as work experience.  I really appreciated the lecturers who gave us a helping hand whenever we faced a problem, academically or any other issues. It is definitely a life-changing experience studying in HPSHCC.

The programme not only helped me to learn about tourism industry, but it also provided a 6-month internship for us to practise the skills and gain experience in the workplace. This is a great opportunity for us to grow and we benefited a lot from it. I am pleased to study at HPSHCC where I met excellent lecturers and classmates who encouraged me whenever I encountered difficulties.
