This programme, along with my greatest efforts finally made my dreams come true – I was admitted to a local university even though I failed in the public examination. I have learnt plenty of knowledge from different lectures and it is extremely useful for my future study and my career as well. The lecturers are professional and helpful. This programme also provides a 6-month placement so that I can understand the industry better through real practical experiences.

我在中學時期已經對旅遊服務業感興趣，中學畢業後曾在馬灣諾亞方舟任暑期工，於是下定決心發揮自己的語言天份和待人接物的強項，報讀旅遊及酒店管理高級文憑課程。學院安排了我在置地文華東方酒店實習，得到一個不可多得、能夠實踐課堂所學的機會。實習時，我在酒店宴會部工作，不單要負責與客戶接觸、安排場地，也要處理往來文書、倉存管理等，磨練了我的人際溝通技巧，在一個真實的工作環境中眼界大開。

My job placement in The Peninsula Hong Kong as a secretary of Executive Chef in Chef’s office and a coordinator in Food & Beverage Office also meant so much to me as well. I have learnt a great deal in this legendary 5-star hotel including how to meet and exceed customers’ expectations with a good customer service and professional manner.”

高考前已想修讀旅遊及酒店課程，相信『出路』會較理想，將來投身社會找工作時也不用擔心出路。另外，由於酒店有許多不同部門，讓我有機會參與不同的工作，可以學到更多不同範疇的知識。修讀期間，最大的得著可算是在課程的安排下到四季酒店的酒廊實習，期間所學所聞可謂獲益良多。除了實務經驗，同時也學會了人際溝通的技巧，了解到如何滿足不同客人的需要。畢業後希望可以繼續從事酒店前線的的工作，不斷增加自己在這行業內不同範疇的知識。

It has long been heard that the programmes offered by the College are of good quality with superb reputation. Therefore, I have chosen a HD programme of the College to further my study when my attempt in HKALE was in vain. The comfortable campus environment and experienced lecturers allowed us to focus on our studies. Through the lecturers' sharing and the practical experience which I gained from my 6-month job placement in a famous 5-star hotel, it had deepened my interest and understanding in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Being a professional hotelier, both sufficient academic knowledge and practical job skills are essential, and this programme has given me a great opportunity to become one of the professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry. The lecturers in this programme used interactive teaching methods to enhance our analytical thinking and cultivate our working capability. Besides, they have extensive industrial experience, and shared many real life cases with us and these were truly valuable to our study. For my job internship, I worked in The peninsula Hong Kong for six months. This gave me a great chance to obtain precious experience of how to get along well with guests and colleagues.
