The experience of studying in Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management programmewas extraordinary. This programmeis taught by qualified lecturers having experiences working in hotel for years. Also, its all-rounded programme structure providesme with comprehensive knowledge about the tourism industry and helps develop my future career path. Moreover, the programme provides students with a 6-month placement. Working in a 5-star hotel as an internship trainees, I did not only learn how a luxury hotel operates, butmy communication skills were also improved.

The programme has greatly been designed for preparing students to work or further study. I learnt more about the hotel industry from the 6-month internship at the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel. During the internship, I could practice the skills that learnt from lectures and understand more about the current situation of the industry.

汪子軒 Harry Wong
We have learnt a lot in the areas of Tourism and Hospitality Management, especially during the 6-month internship. We did face a lot of hardships, such as exams and fighting for projects. Luckily, I met a group of excellent classmates to overcome the obstacles. Lastly, once I have any difficulties, the lecturers were very willing to give me a hand too.

The College is a place for students to equip themselves and to fulfill their dreams. I enjoy studying here since I have made so many friends and gained lots of valuable experiences during my internship. Most importantly, lecturers are extremely nice and helpful.

My past two-year study at the College was very fruitful and enjoyable. We did not only learn a lot the industry-related knowledge, but also got abundant lecturers’ guidance on understanding the actual situation in the industry. In addition, I gained a valuable 6-month internship experience as a Human Resources trainee in the Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel. I believe these experiences can benefit me for my future studies and careers. Although the past two years were full of challenges, I was lucky to have my groupmates’ support, which became one of my driving forces to keep me up every time.

The past two years studying was fruitful and inspiring. Aside from lectures, students were given the opportunity to partake in placements and field trips. The courses provided not only allowed the students to acquire in-depth knowledge, but also provided excellent opportunities for us to apply that knowledge in a more practical environment, such as in daily life.

The THM programme has equipped me with precious knowledge related to tourism industry. I was given the chance to work at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel as a trainee. In addition, the programme had arranged a lot of site visits for us in order to gain a deeper understanding within the tourism industry. The course was not only focusing on knowledge but also practical skills which was first-rate preparation for students in their career development. With professional lecturers and advanced equipment, the College provides an excellent learning environment. As a class representative, I have joined in different meetings with the Vice-Principal and Programme Leader. The College is always improving its relationship with the students by listening to their needs through those meetings.

The programme helped me to build up a strong foundation in the field of Tourism and Hospitality. The experienced lecturers are professional and made my study more interesting through their interactive teaching methods. They also shared their rich industrial experience and the latest information about the industry with us. Furthermore, the College also provides us with a great opportunity to broaden our horizon and experience, and apply the knowledge and skills learnt from classes through a 6-month placement. Therefore, I really enjoyed my school life in this College and gained working experience from the internship.

This programme not only enabled me to learn particular knowledge about the tourism and hospitality industry, but it also provided me with a valuable opportunity to gain practical working experience through a 6-month internship in a 5-star hotel, The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. The lecturers are definitely professional and rich with experience of the hotel and tourism industry; as a result they were able to apply their theories into real life situations. Furthermore, the well-designed and top-rate facilities gave us direct insight into how to prepare ourselves before the placements and also for the future. During the past 2 years, there were also various visits to cruise ships, theme parks, hotels and Geoparks in which we were able to broaden our horizons.

This programme, along with my greatest efforts finally made my dreams come true – I was admitted to a local university even though I failed in the public examination. I have learnt plenty of knowledge from different lectures and it is extremely useful for my future study and my career as well. The lecturers are professional and helpful. This programme also provides a 6-month placement so that I can understand the industry better through real practical experiences.

我在中學時期已經對旅遊服務業感興趣,中學畢業後曾在馬灣諾亞方舟任暑期工,於是下定決心發揮自己的語言天份和待人接物的強項,報讀旅遊及酒店管理高級文憑課程。學院安排了我在置地文華東方酒店實習,得到一個不可多得、能夠實踐課堂所學的機會。實習時,我在酒店宴會部工作,不單要負責與客戶接觸、安排場地,也要處理往來文書、倉存管理等,磨練了我的人際溝通技巧,在一個真實的工作環境中眼界大開。

During the past two years, I gained a great deal of skills and knowledge from the professional lecturers who are all experienced in the hotel industry. They were always willing to share, support and give advice to all the students, whether it is on academic or life event planning.
My job placement in The Peninsula Hong Kong as a secretary of Executive Chef in Chef’s office and a coordinator in Food & Beverage Office also meant so much to me as well. I have learnt a great deal in this legendary 5-star hotel including how to meet and exceed customers’ expectations with a good customer service and professional manner.”
