What I have gained in this college is unexpectedly tremendous. I found my lifelong study goals and motivations through studying the psychology programme here as the lectures are fascinating and the teachers are inspiring. Besides, I am so lucky to be given a lot of opportunities by the college to enjoy different experiences, such as service tours and student ambassador schemes. These experiences are crucial for me to develop as a better person. One thing I must mention is the SDRC in this college, the Student Counsellors are supportive and I feel like I was never walking alone in these two years.

The best word used to describe my College life would be “unexpected”. I enrolled in this College and the programme without any plan. I could not imagine of being able to meet a number of people, such as classmates, lecturers and counsellors, who are the ones really support and care about every student. Undoubtedly, all the experiences I got at the College, not only led to my own all-round development like being a Student Ambassador, but also promote others’ betterments like participating in the Cambodia study and service tour. Now, my dream of getting a place in the HKU comes true!

My critical thinking skills have been greatly enhanced after I studied comprehensive curriculum of Social Sciences provided by this College. The past two-year campus life is challenging, yet enjoyable, for me to strive for the same goal with my buddies. We labeled ourselves as “Procrastinator United” to struggle with every deadline of assignments, presentations and examinations with unforgettable overnights. To me, attitude can make such big differences since a head full of fears has no space for dreams. Only passion leads us to success. Studying at this College serves as a milestone relocating myself with my interest and desired dreams, which facilitates my personal growth.

Looking back on these two years of College life at HPSHCC, what I have learnt and gained is beyond my expectation. Regarding academic support, all the lecturers are tremendously professional. They do not only teach theoretical knowledge, but also supplement with interesting real-life examples. I have met a lot of good friends here and participated in different kinds of activities, such as the Shanghai Exchange Tour and drama performance. All of these have shaped me to be a better, all-rounded person. Lastly, I must say I have made the right choice to study at HPSHCC.

Many people regard studying an associate degree as a path for the unsuccessful in HKDSE and JUPAS. I see it as an alternative route to realising my dream. The programme has deepened my understanding and passion in psychology, thus laying a solid foundation for future studies. The lecturers are professionals in their respective industries; their dedicated teaching and sharing have helped us to identify our goals. After these two years, I strongly believe that whatever hardships that come my way, I can overcome them and fulfill my dreams.

I made a right choice of studying at the College two years ago. I do not only acquire knowledge about Psychology, but also gain some useful skills through taking part in the events, workshops and seminars held and promoted by the Student Development Resource Center (SDRC). Reviewing my 2-year study at the College, I would not say it is relaxing throughout all times, but I would not say it is tough either. Instead, it is one of the most memorable moments of my life. I still remember that anxious feeling I had when I first entered the College: worrying that I may not make friends, not being able to catch up with school work and was afraid my future may not go the way I want it to be. Now that I look back, I discover I did not only have buddies who can share each other’s deep feelings, lecturers who teach from their hearts and counsellors who always place student concerns as their top priority, but also knowledge and abilities that are useful in universities or even lifetime. With everyone’s support and encouragement, together with a do-my-best spirit on all assignments and presentations, my dream – entering a university that I have been longing for has come true.
