HPSHCC has provided me an opportunity to be back to school again. Before studying at HPSHCC, I worked as a clinic nurse for a few years. I used to be dependent and lacked self-confidence. The programme allowed me to develop critical thinking. Through class projects and presentations, I became more confident. Besides, I have learnt a lot from my Programme Leader and lecturers. I believe my experience at HPSHCC and the knowledge I gained were of great benefit to my career development and further studies.

The learning atmosphere here is free and supportive, emphasising on students’ independence and initiative. The programme syllabus covers a broad range of professional topics, including biological, pharmaceutical and medical management, helping me to identify my strength and arouse my interest in studying. Through the summer internship referred by the College, I have become more responsible and down-to-earth, and started to establish my academic and career directions. Besides, the College also provided me with various kinds of learning opportunities, such as class representative programme, outdoor visits, internships and scholarships. These experiences have broadened my horizons. With such strong academic training and non-academic exposure, I am admitted to the university. I would say the College is a very good platform for students to understand themselves, and become a mature person.

Out of my expectation, these 2 years at the College was a prosperous journey. Medical and Health Products Management programme integrated apprehensive medical knowledge into the syllabus, which nurture students with practical skills to face future challenge. Lecturers and counsellors always encouraged me when I had difficulties. I would like to give my deepest gratitude to everyone who cheered me up and motivated me. Although I have spent 2 years more on my study journey than an ordinary university student, the reward was beyond my imagination.

The two-year programme is really meaningful for me as I determined to develop my career in the field of nursing. During my study, the programme had arranged out-of-classroom activities such as visiting a laboratory at HKU and an elderly nursing home. The experience helped me to understand more about the medical fields. Although my study path is not a direct one, I did have a fruitful experience. I am really thankful to the lecturers because they not only taught me about the knowledge but also gave me support and encouragement.

I did not do very well in the HKDSE exam. At that time, I felt disappointed and lost about my future. Looking back, I really appreciated what I have learned and gained at this College. The programme equipped me with knowledge of pharmacology, physiology and anatomy, which helped me to adapt to the university curriculum especially the health-related courses. Also, lecturers play an essential role in this programme. I am thankful that they were willing to teach us patiently and share with us on further study and career pathways. I wouldn’t have such an achievement without the support of lecturers and my fellow schoolmates. I wish all students a fruitful and enjoyable experience at HPSHCC.

Being a student of the Higher Diploma programme of Medical and Healthcare Products Management, I was exposed to a wide range of professional topics. Therefore, multidisciplinary and practical studies are the characteristics of this programme. Through various modes of learning, we can apply what we have learned in the daily lessons. In addition, laboratory and pharmaceutical industry visits, as well as the summer internship deepened my understanding on medical knowledge. They really broadened my horizons and I got the opportunities to put into practice. I wanted to thank the College lecturers as I had benefited much from their inspiration and encouragement.
