2009–11 Higher Diploma in Business (Accounting) View Programme
2011 Year 2, BCom (Hons) in Accountancy, Hong Kong Baptist University
“The Higher Diploma in Business (Accounting) programme has sharpened my competitive edge, as it enhanced my skills and capabilities a lot. Despite I only had some basic knowledge about Accounting before entering this programme, here at the College I have learned lots of practical applications in areas like Auditing and Taxation, all of which were essential for me in pursuing a career in the Accounting field or for further studies.
Apart from the knowledge we learnt from the text books, the programme required us to work in groups when handling different assignments. Very often I had to communicate with a group of teammates which greatly enhanced my interpersonal, analytical and communication skills. Furthermore, the whole learning experience certainly helped deepen my understanding on those accounting concepts which were all beneficial to my university study.”

2011 Year 2, BSc (Hons) in Hotel Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
“Being a student of the Higher Diploma in Hotel Management programme, I am greatly impressed by the professional lecturers who have all equipped with interactive teaching methods. With rich industrial experience, they managed to apply theoretical contents into practical real life situations, and always provided us with the latest information about the changes and development in the industry. Programmes were well-structured with a good combination of presentations, projects, assignments and examinations, which prepared us a strong foundation for becoming expert hoteliers in the future.
Apart from attending lectures, we are given the opportunity to utilise our knowledge and skills learnt through a 6-month practical job placement in various 5-star hotels. Working in the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong is certainly an invaluable experience to me to further advance my career in the near future.”

2011 Year 2, Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology, City University of Hong Kong
“It was fruitful studying at the College as the College has successfully maintained a very good learning atmosphere. The lecturers I met are all knowledgeable, patient and experienced, and they are always willing to spend time after class to answer our questions. Feedback from them proves to be very useful and they are prone to share their own valuable work experience in class with us.
Besides, the College has also provided students with many supports; from time to time the college counsellors organised talks on university admission, interviewing skills, and other workshops on personal development as well. Students are also welcomed to make appointments with the counsellors anytime in order to seek their advice. In short, the past two years in the College has well-equipped me to embrace the university life in the coming years. I have to admit that the Psychology programme is quite challenging and by all means, you need to work very hard on it. However, assistance and supports from the lecturers and classmates are always there and I can proudly say I am now much more confident about my future career path than ever before.”

My job placement in The Peninsula Hong Kong as a secretary of Executive Chef in Chef’s office and a coordinator in Food & Beverage Office also meant so much to me as well. I have learnt a great deal in this legendary 5-star hotel including how to meet and exceed customers’ expectations with a good customer service and professional manner.”

“HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College is a light in the dark which guides me the way to find and achieve my career target. I still remembered the result announcement day of my A-level examination, it was not good at all and I really wanted to give up my study. I then came across with the lecturers of the College, who explained the programme syllabus in great details and offered me the opportunity to study the Higher Diploma in Business (Accounting and Financial Planning) programme here.
As the lecturers in the College are all professionals such as chartered accountants or financial planners and so on, it is a natural progression they like to share their own experience at work with students instead of lecturing by means of the text books alone. Students were always encouraged to raise questions, and the learning atmosphere was excellent as well. Apart from that, I also enjoyed studying at the College as the campus provided a really comfortable environment for me to study and hang out with my classmates.”

These events not only helped broaden my horizon, but also allowed me to further develop my communication skills and my ability to handle odds and emergency. My interest towards the tourism and events industry grew when I undertook the summer internship at Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association.
