My journey as a Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management student at HPSHCC has been incredibly rewarding. Over the past two years, I have gained in-depth knowledge of hotel operations through both coursework and practical training.
One of the most valuable experiences was my internship, where I had the opportunity to apply my classroom learning in a real-world hospitality environment. Through this hands-on training, I significantly improved my communication skills by interacting with guests from diverse backgrounds, handling inquiries, and resolving service issues. Additionally, I honed my problem-solving abilities by managing unexpected challenges and strengthened my teamwork by collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations. This internship not only enhanced my professional skills but also solidified my vision for my future career path. I am grateful to HPSHCC for providing such practical learning opportunities and look forward to further developing my expertise in the hospitality industry.

The greatest reward of studying at HPSHCC is knowing that “no risk, no story” and that it is never too late to chase your dreams. The College provides a good opportunity to learn more about the industry through the internship programme, which has clarified my future career path. Lastly, I would like to thank all the supporters I have met at HPSHCC: I made it! See you at PolyU!

During these two years of my Higher Diploma studies, I have come to realise one of the most important lessons: Never lose sight of your dreams, your passion for learning, and the friends, lecturers, and staff from the Student Development Resource Centre who have constantly encouraged and uplifted me throughout this journey.
One of the moments that left the deepest impression on me was when the programme coordinator asked, “Why are you interested in nursing?” This question reminded me of my initial aspiration and reinforced my determination to stay true to my goals. With the guidance and support of those around me, I have been able to hold on to my passion and persist in pursuing my dream of becoming a nurse, with the hope of helping more people in the future.

HPSHCC has provided a lot of academic support and opportunities, such as IELTS classes and study tours. Through the programme, I acquired skills and knowledge in Tourism and Events Management, as well as learned how to work with group mates effectively. We had the chance to organise a small event for our class. During the pre-event period, we identified the challenges and tried to address or prevent them. Whether it was the pre-event period, the event itself, or the post-event period, the experience was meaningful. This was one of the most interesting parts of this programme. I am grateful that I chose this programme, and I am thankful to the lecturers who taught me.

“Begin with the end in mind” – this is my motto, which means I determine the kind of person I want to become before taking actions. Before starting my two-year Associate Degree programme at the College, I was already well-prepared to face new challenges. Unlike most of my peers, I didn’t hold a strong competitive mindset. Instead, I approached things with a sense of normalcy. In fact, you can achieve good results in the assessments if you are dedicated and serious enough. I often study with a sincere heart and engage in appropriate extracurricular activities and placements. Finally I was able to progress to the university.

Only when you have the courage to fantasise can you have the courage to try. Opportunities can be self-generated, so we must seize them with diligence. Never presume failure before you've even commenced. Irrespective of success or failure, you can take solace in the fact that you have made the effort. If you capitulate without trailing, you will assuredly be deprived of any chance to realise your objective.
Stumbling propels us to evolve more rapidly and learn more abundantly, alike to every toddler have fallen countless times when they learn how to walk. It appears I underperformed in my public examination, yet I chose not to relinquish and afforded myself another prospect by studying at HPSHCC, and now I have been successfully admitted to university!
In my two years of studying at HPSHCC, I was fortunate to encounter many esteemed lecturers and friends from whom I could acquire knowledge and develop in pursuit of my aspirations! I am immensely grateful for their guidance and companionship that extracted me from the darkness and led me to the path to my dream.
To My fellow schoolmates, “Your Mentality Determines All!” So please persist in chasing your dreams! Provided you do not renounce, you will definitely succeed. Good luck!
