College Life

Having studied at the College for two years, I have built a solid foundation in medical knowledge and practical skills. Through studying topics related to physiotherapy and occupational therapy, I broadened my understanding of rehabilitation care. I came to realise that rehabilitation is not limited to nursing care, but also involves promoting patients’ mobility, safety, and independence. This helped me gain a deeper understanding of the roles and requirements of professionals in different healthcare fields.

In addition, during my internship, I developed patient care skills, which greatly enhanced my confidence and practical abilities in clinical settings. I also learnt to adopt a patient-centred approach, enabling me to better understand patients’ needs and mobility, and to support their daily rehabilitation process from a professional perspective.

Lastly, I would like to sincerely thank all my lecturers for their dedication and professional guidance. They helped me connect theory with practice, improved my problem-solving abilities, and taught me how to prioritise urgent issues in real clinical situations.

I am truly grateful for my two years in the Higher Diploma in Applied Health and Rehabilitation Care programme at HPSHCC, as they have provided me with a solid foundation for my career in healthcare. Throughout this learning journey, I was able to discover my interests and gain many valuable practical opportunities. My experiences in placements, outreach activities, and training with healthcare technologies have greatly enhanced my professional skills and broadened my horizons.

I would like to sincerely thank my supportive lecturers and teammates for their encouragement and support. They helped me grow from a shy beginner into a more confident person and enabled me to gain valuable experience in event coordination. The course has offered invaluable job exposure through placements, outreach activities in various health sectors, and access to advanced healthcare technologies. I have gained practical skills such as using walking aids, mastering bed transfer techniques, and providing patient care. These experiences have not only enhanced my technical competence but also deepened my passion for rehabilitation care. The supportive lecturers and practical training have paved the way for my academic and professional aspirations, and I am excited to continue pursuing my dream career in healthcare.

Alongside fundamental healthcare knowledge, I have gained various learning opportunities beyond classroom, such as developing practical pharmaceutical skills through laboratory activities, and gaining a deeper understanding of how healthcare services operate through seminars and overseas visits. For instance, I learned about China's healthcare system during an exchange programme with Shenzhen University, which broadened my perspective and inspired me to pursue a bright future.

Once again, I would like to extend my indebtedness to my lecturers. Guiding us from career prospects to university applications and interview preparation, their persistent tutelage and boundless belief in us will yield another generation of outstanding medical professionals. Their support has been instrumental in shaping my career path and preparing me for the challenges ahead. My journey as a Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management student at HPSHCC has been incredibly rewarding. Over the past two years, I have gained in-depth knowledge of hotel operations through both coursework and practical training.

One of the most valuable experiences was my internship, where I had the opportunity to apply my classroom learning in a real-world hospitality environment. Through this hands-on training, I significantly improved my communication skills by interacting with guests from diverse backgrounds, handling inquiries, and resolving service issues. Additionally, I honed my problem-solving abilities by managing unexpected challenges and strengthened my teamwork by collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations. This internship not only enhanced my professional skills but also solidified my vision for my future career path. I am grateful to HPSHCC for providing such practical learning opportunities and look forward to further developing my expertise in the hospitality industry.

Over the past two years, I have acquired invaluable knowledge about the hospitality industry. This journey has been enriched by the unwavering support of my College lecturers, who guided me in navigating the complexities of the field. The College also facilitated internships that allowed me to apply what I had learned in real-world settings. While the internship presented its challenges, it significantly strengthened my practical skills and provided me with deeper insights into the hospitality sector.

Beyond academics, the College provided a vibrant array of activities, including cocktail workshops, volunteer programmes like V-circle, and the Student Ambassador Programme. I was honoured to be a student ambassador, an opportunity that not only broadened my social network but also left me with countless cherished memories.
