College Life

My HKDSE result was unsatisfactory. I thought I would never study the Communication and Journalism programme at CUHK. HPSHCC gave me a second chance. I was finally admitted to my dream programme after studying for 2 years at HPSHCC. Keep your belief and do not give up on your dream.

Two years ago, I couldn't get into the university. Eventually, I enrolled in the AD at HPSHCC. After two years, I now receive four UGC bachelor’s degree offers. HPSHCC has provided me with a comprehensive education and good study platform to prepare for my bachelor's degree study.

All roads lead to Rome. The two-year study greatly consolidated my knowledge and understanding of the field of media. I have now become clearer about my future goal and am prepared to strive for it. I am grateful to my classmates and teachers who were always there to support me during tough times.

It has been a splendid journey to study at this College. Apart from acquiring knowledge that would form a firm foundation for my further studies, I’ve also taken part in various College activities like the Student Ambassador programme and the study tour. Over the past two years, I realised the importance of goal setting and I’ve tried to step out of the comfort zone.

Time flies, after two years’ studying of the Associate Degree programme at this College, I am well-equipped with the elementary knowledge in the fields of Communication, Public Relations and Journalism. With the patient and professional lecturers, I have learnt lots of useful concepts and theories, which greatly aroused my interest in the area of Journalism. Studying at this College is an important path for me to articulate to the University in order to accomplish my goal to be a professional journalist.

Studying at this College for the past 2 years has well-prepared myself for studying in university. Through those generic skills and general education courses, such as Sociology and Social Research, as well as those specialism courses like PR and Journalism, I was motivated to fully develop my interest in Social Sciences. All the courses provided me with solid foundations for my future studies. Besides, I participated in the Voluntary Service Tour and was being selected as the student ambassador, in which my leadership and networking skills were greatly improved. All these wonderful experiences formulated my all-round character and shaped me to be more mature.

Before entering HPSHCC, I believed that studying an associate degree is a tough path to take. Yet, the past two years have proven otherwise. The College has dedicated staff and high-quality facilities; it made me realise that a positive learning environment can help students overcome their stress and obstacles. During these two years, I have developed leadership and communication skills, which are vital to my future studies and work.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Having to study an associate degree does not mean failure; I have treated it as an opportunity. College education has provided me with practical knowledge and helped me to better understand the media, public relations and journalism industries. On the other hand, I have had much personal growth in these two years, becoming more confident and persevering. I hope that all HPSHCC students will strive to fulfill their dreams.

When I first came to this school two years ago, I had no knowledge about the background of the chosen courses and was not sure whether it would suit me or not.  All I wanted was to get out of here as soon as possible.  Surprisingly, two years later, I realize that I actually enjoy the school life in the College.  Interesting courses, dedicated teachers, helpful friends who have been through exams and presentations with me have made my study life in the College so fruitful and unforgettable.

In the past two years, I have learnt a lot from the College. I acquired the fundamentals of social science, which are important for me to pursue higher education. Life at the College is meaningful, I participated in a volunteer tour to Mainland China during the end of first semester. I also received precious opportunities to participate in editing the College magazine and serve as a student representative, which improved my leadership and communication skills. All these experiences have not only broadened my vision but have also shaped me to become more mature.

Studying in the College is the best decision I've ever made in my life. Throughout these 2 years, it has fulfilled my hunger of knowledge, realized my dream of perfection, and above all, empowered me to imagine a brave new world. With my social network expanded to most of my lecturers who have taught me a plethora of life-changing courses, I'm now confident to accept any challenges in my future career in journalism.

The community college is much more desirable than many have imagined: students are self-motivated, lecturers are experienced, and counselors are helpful. I am graceful that the school offers me an exceptionally precious second chance to flourish. No matter how lost and how confused you are when you enter the college, these two years will definitely guide you to rethink your future.
