College Life

I used to work in another industry before entering this College, which I cherish learning more than anything else. In the past, I had only a vague understanding of what real estate management was, yet the comprehensive programme structure has equipped me with knowledge in key aspects of property industry through a dynamic way of teaching. Besides classroom learning, I have gained working experience through part-time and intern employment in two property management companies. Those valuable experiences not only allowed me to apply my knowledge into work, but also strengthened my dedication to pursue further study and career in the field of property management. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all College Lectures for their advice and guidance throughout my study and career plan.

Studying at this College for the past 2 years has well-prepared myself for studying in university. Through those generic skills and general education courses, such as Sociology and Social Research, as well as those specialism courses like PR and Journalism, I was motivated to fully develop my interest in Social Sciences. All the courses provided me with solid foundations for my future studies. Besides, I participated in the Voluntary Service Tour and was being selected as the student ambassador, in which my leadership and networking skills were greatly improved. All these wonderful experiences formulated my all-round character and shaped me to be more mature.

Due to my unsatisfactory public exam results, I was unable to enter university but I did not give up, I chose to study the Higher Diploma programme. I enjoyed studying here as I learnt to be brave to face any adversities. My learning attitude has changed. I attended lectures and submitted all the assignments on time, so what I have gained are the experience, knowledge and friends in the College. Everyone can really achieve more when he/she enjoys doing them.

學校設備齊全，提供很多實習的機會，讓我更理解未來工作上的需要。課程需要完成不同類型的專題研習，這與大學課程的教學模式相似，能為未來升讀大學做好準備。除此以外，我透過討論專題研習和參加不同的活動，改善了與他人溝通的技巧。

Before entering HPSHCC, I believed that studying an associate degree is a tough path to take. Yet, the past two years have proven otherwise. The College has dedicated staff and high-quality facilities; it made me realise that a positive learning environment can help students overcome their stress and obstacles. During these two years, I have developed leadership and communication skills, which are vital to my future studies and work.

I recalled the day when the HKCEE result was released. I was frustrated and feared that all my efforts were in vain. With my strong enthusiasm of being a registered nurse, I applied for in the Higher Diploma in Medical and Health Products Management programme. The programme offered me an opportunity to study modules such as Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology as well as Drug Action and Use of Medicine. My interest in nursing continued to grow and I came to realise that this programme was essential for my future study in the university. This programme is well designed. It equips students with the knowledge and training to meet the increasing demand in medical and health industry.

Higher Diploma in Hotel Managementgrantedme a 6-month internship practice at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Hong Kong, in which really acted as the milestone in my academic development in hospitality. This is definitely the one and only programme in Hong Kong that provides fruitful opportunities to actualize concepts and knowledge we learnt in reference books. In terms of programme structures, it is well arranged with practical exercises, quizzes coupled with exams and group-projects which prepared  students to take up any job nature in hotels and tackle any challenges in the workplace. Together with lecturers who are having rich experiences in this field, you can surely find your path in the career development.

This program not only offers the basic knowledge of tourism and events management, but also allows students to learn more through job placements, site visits, guest lectures and internships. Participating in placements enables me to understand more about the operations in the tourism industry. Besides acquiring knowledge from books, student life at HPSHCC is full of opportunities to prepare for the future. The lecturers are dedicated, the counsellors are supportive and the schoolmates are friendly. All in all, I have definitely have had a great two years here and the rewards are beyond my expectations.

This programme provided me with a plethora of legal principles and practice knowledge, which instilled a desire to pursue a career in criminology. Legal courses like criminal law, tort law and civil procedure enhanced my analytical skills and broadened my understanding in Hong Kong law. The programme has had a tremendous beneficial impact on my undergraduate studies in the university.

In the past two years, I have gained a lot being in this College. I have made new friends with the same goals. We studied in the library before quizzes and exams, experienced success and failure together, as well as supported and encouraged each other. The enthusiastic and professional lecturers have not only taught us knowledge and skills, but also helped us cultivate our goals and future prospects. Moreover, the teaching mode of the College is similar to that of a university, it helps me to adapt to university life.

In this programme, I have learnt lots of health-related knowledge and professional skills, this helped me to build a strong foundation for future study in nursing. Moreover, we were taught by health professionals in some of the courses, therefore we could know the up-to-date information about the health field and learn about the daily episodes in different health sectors. All of these sharpened my target of being a nurse. In the past 2 years, I have experienced a lot of diverse courses, particularly the placement experience which allowed me to learn and meet different service targets in community centers. Those experiences made me become more mature and prudent when dealing with different affairs.

My critical thinking skills have been greatly enhanced after I studied comprehensive curriculum of Social Sciences provided by this College. The past two-year campus life is challenging, yet enjoyable, for me to strive for the same goal with my buddies. We labeled ourselves as “Procrastinator United” to struggle with every deadline of assignments, presentations and examinations with unforgettable overnights. To me, attitude can make such big differences since a head full of fears has no space for dreams. Only passion leads us to success. Studying at this College serves as a milestone relocating myself with my interest and desired dreams, which facilitates my personal growth.
